Stormy skies
Mirror a stormy heart
Emotion clouds swirling
Fog my logical vision
I smell a storm brewing
Will the sheet of rain;
wash away past hurts and pain?
Will lightning strike twice;
opening old wounds no fixing can suffice?
Will tall strong trees come tumbling down;
ripping out the roots so carefully planted in the ground?
Will the rain fall gently on the soil?
Bringing with it new life out of turmoil?
Re-growing what was once dead
Reconnecting broken ties again
Turbulent grey clouds
Obscure what’s ahead
Thunder claps, shaking my core with dread
Lightning flashes guide the way
Tempest clouds will bring a new day
Whether or not I want the change
